Following my interview with Nick Allbrook, I attended POND’s show at Trees in Dallas. After a delay pushed their performance dates back, they started off their American tour on May 14th. Fascinator opened, setting the night up for funky rhythms and mesmerizing sounds. Once POND came on, the excitement was tangible.

The fans in the room were ecstatic to be in the presence of these musical geniuses. Their lyrics were delivered honestly and passionately, as each member helped create an intimate setting while filling the room with their sound and presence on stage. Allbrook, with his lanky moves and quirky facial expressions, made it hard to take your eye off him, but once you started moving your eye across the stage, you couldn’t help but notice how each musician was totally consumed by the art they were creating and performing.

They invited you to embrace their lyrics, which many from the most recent album, The Weather, were cynical but felt the most honest. Watching the fans sing along to songs such as 30,000 Megatons, which was my personal favorite to see live, felt as if I was witnessing something so intimate and special we were no longer in a room with hundreds of people, but each member of the crowd was alone with the band. POND showed Dallas a good time, letting us dance and jam and calling us to listen and think. THIS is a show I would definitely go to again.
